Refreshing

I have to say, this is a much needed break from Newgrounds' sea of techno and remixes.

This song immediately shows your talent: utilizing overlooked, underestimated instruments to create an original, addicting, attention-grabbing song. The beats are surprisingly hard-hitting and relaxed at the same time. Each instrument combines together to produce an ear-pleasing medley. Transitions to an instrument's "solo" are smooth, and the actual solos show how powerful the respective instrument can be.

I can't even think of any flaws in this song. This song is perfect the way it is, unlike most works on NG. Great work!

P.S: The whole "weird glitch electronic banjo-hiphop" song can easily be used for any modern/near-futuristic trailers or for any independent media form.

InvisibleObserver responds:

I'm more then pleased you left a review, and in an ever so cliche way, it means a lot to me that you basically noticed this for what I made it to be.

You may need to explain in further detail what you mean by in your PS. :P

Wow

This piece is simple, yet I find myself listening to this over and over. Sure, the title may not match the song (Ninjitsu is assassination and refers to Japan, not China), but I'm more about how the song sounds rather than what the name is. The song sounds like something from the Hong Kong level in Deus Ex, and I say that as a compliment. Ion Storm had some great music for that game, and your piece would perfectly blend in.

But yeah, did I mention that this song was awesome?

That Bad-Ass Vibe...

I love the whole vibe and beat I get from hearing this song. Personally, I think the distorted synth running through a combo sim brought something really unique and interesting to the song.

The lyrics was pretty good for someone who doesn't write lyrics often. The vocals were mixed too low like you said, but I didn't mind that much, since the beat got me too entertained to actually care. Personally, though, the "flow" of the lyrics needs to be varied if you're gonna have that many words that end with the same syllable.

I'm hooked to this song, and I'm sure I'll listen to this song 10 times everyday for a good week thanks to you. I hope that I'll see more songs like this from you, and I wouldn't be surprised if you get more popular for your music, whether it's underground or mainstream.

midimachine responds:

Wow, glad you liked it so much!

I'd like to make more stuff like this but it's hard to recreate the energy that made this. It started with one noise and turned into a monster :P

Worth a Download

This sounds pretty lovely, but for some reason, I didn't get the whole MGS vibe from it until halfway through the song. The beginning seemed like it could fit into a mini VR-tutorial until it heated into an MGS song that could be used in an intro cinematic or credits.

Don't think this is a bad song though, this is anything but that. The result of the "experimentation" on the intro is worth listening to. The main electronic beat in the beginning seems a little "kiddy," but it's nice. After the halfway marker, a techno/electronic cover of the MGS2 theme sounds pretty sweet. There's more I could describe, but I'll let you discover the rest!

Smooth

This song is so good, it sounds like an instrumental off of a mainstream song (which it isn't, mind you). I am easily hooked by the MIDI/keyboard beat, and I can easily imagine The-Dream, Ne-Yo, Usher, or Jamie Foxx singing to this.

I'm impressed. Whenever I'm stressed, I'll listen to this soothing song and relax.

Heavenly Brings Me Tears of Joy

This song is amazing! jonk285, just because a song is repetitious doesn't mean it's not great. Sure it repeats, but clearly F-777 changes up the music in a professional, seamless, and crafty way.

The beat is addictive, and I love the bass on this song. I've heard a couple of your songs, and I'm pleased to say that it's just as good as NemesisTheory's songs.

Keep up the great work!!!

Simply Elegant

MaximuMMaximuS is correct about you. You AREN"T like most aspiring artists on Newgrounds.

The beats and samples you've used combine and fuse together to produce a very unique and relaxing sound. None of the layers are overpowering, and the VST plug-ins help polish and boost the sound quality.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable song. I wish you good luck producing more songs with this kind of quality and potential.

C-Enterprise responds:

Thanks for the good review, hope to read something else from you on the next song ;)

Phenomenal!!!

This song was simply one of the best "remixes" I ever heard on the Internet. Not only did you sample "Still Alive" from Mirror's Edge, but you put this song together in a very unique arrangement that makes this song "stand on its own" if you know what I mean.

The beginning of the song was the best part in my opinion, since I have a music fetish for a choir. The techno/rock parts of the song were unexpected, but were surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable. The transition from the choir to the techno/rock was seamless, and nothing seemed out-of-place or "tacked on."

This song was again one of the best I've ever heard in a long time, and it definitely makes me want to replay Mirror's Edge again! I hope that DICE and EA glance upon this song so that this hopefully makes it in the sequel...

Keep up the sensational work!!!!

NemesisTheory responds:

wow, that's a pretty big thing to say! I'm honored :D

and yes I'm seeing a lot of people that really liked the ambient start :)
I guess I could explore stuff like this in the future!

i'm really glad you liked the song so much, and I kind of hope EA or DICE hears this eventually as well haha, if not only to be laughed at because of how amateur this sounds compared to the "pro" remixes XD

anyway, thanks!

Great Work

This remix could possibly go well packed as part of a mod or expansion pack for GTA IV.

The remix sounds similar to the original Soviet Connection theme, but doesn't entirely model everything in the theme which is great. The bass, snares, and drums were pretty cool. However, whenever I hear this song, you're missing an instrumental beat that would match the "mood" of the original theme.

Overall, it's really good! Keep up the great work!!!

This is a keeper!

I absolutely love this song, especially when it gets to 1:28, which is like a mini trumpet solo! This whole song gives you the essensce of the end of a long-running war in some video game, kinda like Final Fantasy!

And for those people who say that your song reminds them of a late Miles Davis, they're absolutely correct!

I hope you make more songs like this (you know, the blues/jazz feel).

Favorited....NOW!
